Christmas Bird Count – December 17 and 27

November 1st, 2017

Sign up now for our 2017 Oakland and San Francisco Christmas Bird Counts! The Oakland count takes place on Sunday, December 17, and the San Francisco count on Wednesday, December 27.

The Christmas Bird Count is a fun, 117-year-old nationwide Audubon tradition. All levels of birders — from beginners to veterans — are welcome. If you can’t spend a full day in the field, take part from the comfort of your home as a Feeder Watcher counting birds in your backyard.

At the end of count day, join the festive CBC compilation dinner and share your team’s results with other participants. The count is free; the dinner costs $20. Registration deadline is December 3rd.

Click here for details on the count, its history, and results of past counts.

Registered Participants: You should hear from your team leader with logistical details in the week before your count.

Media: We welcome coverage of the counts! Contact Communications Director Ilana DeBare at idebare@goldengateaudubon.org or (510) 301-5573. For background and history, see our CBC page.
