Emeryville Marina High Tide
October 16 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
We will stroll along the bay to the high tide shorebird roost along Powell St. We’ll be scoping the bay for diving ducks, grebes, loons and cormorants. The shorebird high tide roost itself can be fantastic if not disturbed by dogs. After observing the high tide roost those who feel like hiking will continue to Point Emery. Often you can find Surfbirds and Turnstones along the rocky shoreline. This trip is 1.9 miles one way, so call it a 4 mile outing altogether. We should be done before 2 p.m.
Leader: Rusty Scalf, firstname.lastname@example.org, (510) 495-5837
This trip is free but advance registration is required. Registration will open two weeks before the trip and close at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 14. Directions for registered participants are below.
Please note the public health guidelines for this trip, as we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic:
Trip is limited to 20 participants, plus the leaders. There will not be a waiting list.
Participants must register online and acknowledge acceptance of our liability waiver. Each person must register separately. No “drop ins,” please.
Thank you for your flexibility in helping us ensure that everyone remains healthy! Because we have to limit the size of trips, please do not sign up unless you are committed to attending.
Directions: Drive to the end of Powell Street (the last parking lot of the Emeryville Marina) and meet at the base of the outer breakwater. Google Maps calls it “Walking Trail surrounded by the water, Marina Park Pathway, Emeryville, CA” . No kidding, put this into Google Maps and you have the exact point.
