Aquatic Park (Berkeley)

All are welcome but LGBTQ+ and BIPOC folks are especially invited to a participatory field trip. We all benefit when anyone shares their observations, knowledge and enthusiasm.  There should be large birds that can be seen without binoculars, including migratory and winter water birds. We will likely discover land birds by sight and ear too. Binoculars help, so let Rachel know in advance if you’d like a loaner pair.  Barbara will share tips about camera settings and composition on your smart phone or DSLR, so bring your photographing device! Trip will be 1-2 miles on flat partially unpaved terrain with some benches. Bring layers. Heavy rain/wind cancels

This trip is free but advance registration is required. Registration will open two weeks before the trip and close at 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 11.  Directions for registered participants are below.

Directions: We will start at the south end of the park this time so we can look at the birds in the smaller lake too. We will meet at West Bolivar Drive, just west of the Aquatic Park South Lot. Free car parking is available in the lot, around the circle and on your way in at the lot on Bay St.
