Alameda Creek-Coyote Hills Bike Ride

February 19 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm

Ride with us along Alameda Creek to Coyote Hills looking for waterbirds, raptors and passerines. We’ll cycle about 15 mostly flat miles, including a short distance on urban streets and possibly some packed dirt/gravel paths at Coyote Hills.  Bring binoculars and water, and wear layers.  Please bring snacks AND lunch, since there is no food available for purchase on this route.

Helmets are required. Restrooms are located at the BART station, at a staging area along the creek, and at the Coyote Hills Visitor Center, where we will eat lunch. Rain or bad air quality cancels. Call or email Cathy Bleier with any other questions.

This birding ride is co-listed with Grizzly Peak Cyclists (GPC).   Participants must register online and acknowledge acceptance of our liability waiver. Agreeing to the GGAS liability waiver is also agreeing to the Grizzly Peak Cyclists waiver.

Leader: Pat Greene pjgreene@sonic.net, (415) 481-5469; Cathy Bleier , csbleier@sbcglobal.net, (510) 414-5719.

This trip is free but advance registration is required. Registration will open two weeks before the trip and close at 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 17. Directions for registered participants are below.

Please note the public health guidelines for this trip, as we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic:

  • Ride is limited to 12 participants, plus the leaders. There will not be a waiting list.

  • Participants must register online and acknowledge acceptance of our liability waiver. Each person must register separately. No “drop ins,” please.

Thank you for your flexibility in helping us ensure that everyone remains healthy! Because we have to limit the size of trips, please do not sign up unless you are committed to attending.

Directions: Meet at 9:45 a.m. at the Union City BART station by the ticket machines.  Trip leaders plan to be on trains arriving at 9:35 and 9:46 from San Francisco and East Bay.
