Special Prize for the Top First-time Birdathon Fundraiser
Are you new to Birdathon? Or maybe new to birding entirely? We’re so glad you’re taking part… and as further incentive, this year’s top first-time Birdathon fundraiser will win a pair of Kowa 10X42 BD42-10XD binoculars, valued at $449.
Donated by Out of This World Optics in Mendocino, these Kowa binoculars combine precision glass and prisms, with optical and prism coatings to produce a binocular that performs well in all light conditions with true color representation. Extra-low dispersion XD glass elements reduce chromatic aberration and image distortion at the edges of the field of view. The center focus wheel is textured for easy handling in cold and wet conditions, even while wearing gloves.
Out of This World Optics is the leading retailer of binoculars, spotting scopes and telescopes in Central and Northern California. Since 1988 they’ve specialized in quality optics for everyone from casual birders to die-hard whale watchers. You can visit their store on Main Street in Mendocino to try out a wide selection of optics with stunning views of the Pacific coastline. Or browse their online store at OutOfThisWorldOptics.com. You can reach them at 1-800-228-8252 for assistance placing an order.
In addition to these prizes, every Birdathon participant who raises or donates $500 will receive complimentary admission to the Birdathon Garden Party and Awards Celebration on Sunday, May 31, 2020. People who raise $1,000 will receive admission for themselves and a guest.
Birders under age 18 who raise any amount of money through the Young Birders Contest will also receive free admission. NOTE: You must still sign up online for the Garden Party and check the Complimentary Admission box.
Winners of our Young Birders Contest (top bird count and top fundraiser) will receive their choice of a pelagic birding trip with Alvaro’s Adventures or a nature-focused sailing trip on the Bay with the Schooner Freda B.
