Welcome to Birdathon 2017!
Our Centennial Birdathon is more fun than ever!
Birdathon — held throughout the month of April — is the biggest annual fundraiser for Golden Gate Audubon Society. This year we are aiming to raise $60,000 to launch our second century of Bay Area conservation leadership.
Here’s how it works. Sign up for one of two dozen exciting Birdathon events, including exclusive behind-the-scenes tours, Big Day competitive trips, and fun/educational trips for both beginning and experienced birders.
Everyone who raises $100 or more will receive a complimentary Birdathon 2017 t-shirt with our Least Tern logo.
Top fundraisers will win prizes such as vacation stays in Mendocino or the Sierra. Plus this year we have a special prize of Opticron Natura binoculars, donated by Out of This World Optics, for the top first-time Birdathon fundraiser!
Mark your calendar now for our festive Birdathon Awards Celebration — Saturday May 13, from 3 to 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome, whether you were able to go on a Birdathon trip or not. If you raise $500, you’ll get free admission to the celebration! Or raise $1000 and get free admission for yourself and a companion.
Need help signing up or creating your fundraising page? Or are you shy about fundraising? We can help! We’re offering a free fundraising training session on March 12, paired with a Bob Lewis bird walk. (See our Birdathon Trips page for details, or click here to sign up.)

Golden Gate Audubon engages people to experience the wonder of birds and translate that wonder into action; and protect native bird populations and their habitats.
We have played leadership roles in the preservation of Arrowhead Marsh in Oakland and Audubon Canyon Ranch in Bolinas, protection of raptors at the Altamont Pass wind farm, and are currently working to protect endangered California Least Terns, threatened Snowy Plovers and many other Bay Area birds. Our Eco-Education program introduces 700 low-income elementary school students and their families to wildlife and ecosystems each year.
